Invention

A patent is a title to industrial property that serves to protect an invention, i.e. the technical characteristics of a product or a method that is novel and inventive.

Territory

The corresponding rights are acquired by filing an application with the competent authority in the country or countries concerned.

Term

A patent can be kept in force for twenty years from the date of filing by periodically paying renewal fees.
