Distinctive sign

A trademark is an industrial property right that serves to protect signs that are distinctive of a business (names, logos, sounds, ...).

Territory


The corresponding rights are acquired by filing an application with the competent authority for the country(ies) concerned and they can be renewed indefinitely for periods of ten years (in most countries in the world).

Goods and services 

The protection granted applies to goods and services that are specified in the application.  Mentioning the or each class is no more than an administrative convenience and not legally enforceable.
